Her First Time Mountain Biking: 80KM of Trestles, Tunnels & Rattlesnakes!
My girlfriend isn't the most confident biker, but today she plans to overcome her fears and conquer an 80km stretch on the Kettle Valley Rail Trail (KVR) from Kelowna (Myra Canyon) to Penticton BC. Let's see if I'm a hero for planning this trip or wind up in the dog house!
Hope you enjoy a little change of pace. I'll be back to skiing in the next upload!

Make this the second comment! Love the video man! You've evolved!
Nice! I literally just watched your older version of the KVR with MamaAlpine last week! Chester Copperpot! MsAlpine is such a delight. Great to see her back on the channel, back in the adventures. Dodging rattlers, sustaining a flesh wound. What a trooper. MsToboggan once got a mountain bike handlebar end, with no end cap - straight up, open, aluminium handlebar tube - through her external oblique. Skewered, cored, and hollowed out. Like a cork from a wine bottle. Kept riding, and bleeding somewhat profusely, for the rest of the day (several hours of riding) before someone else noticed (I was not there that day), and then straight to the ER. Still has a perfectly round keloid from the "incident". It was her first time mountain biking. And she has continued to ride for the last 15 years or so since.
this looks like something from a redbull avalanche run but on skis lol
“Fuck mud month, I’m going skiing.”
Duuude this inspired me to go hit a sumenr tour with my buddy. We’re going to baker tomorrow! Love your content brotha 😊
5:20 the views are beautiful tdy
That is a fun ride, did it a few years ago. After many hours and finally seeing the lake it is still super far once tired.
The views are absolutely amazing man. I can't wait for the snow to melt this season so I can try this hike. Thanks for a well-shot video, enjoyed it for sure :) One question - Are there any spots to park your car along the forestry service road before it gets bumpy? I don't have a 4x4, if I do this hike I plan to park it along the road and hike up to the trail.
Love the music choice! That mine shaft video was amazing! You deserve way more views on your videos!
looks fun bro, I now really want to go to Canada and do that stuff, what type of canada is that place at?
This is in British Columbia!
Another great video! Keep them up! I absolutely love the skiing vids, but its always nice to have a bit of variety!!
Thanks 🙏
Sweet ride! What were your start and finish points? Would love to find section for day trips along KVR.
We started at Myra Canyon and Finished in Penticton. My parents have done the whole thing and this is one of the best sections according to them.
There was your chance at 6:14 for a pond skim this year!! 😄
🤣
the longest bike ride I've done is the "Murray to the mountains rail trail" it's a nice trail here located in the alpine area of Victoria! I did 50 Kilometres of it! And seeing you do 80 Kilometres inspires me!
Super cool! Maybe I’ll check that one out one day.
Hey man, I think you should change your helmet. There’s a visible dent in the shell that’s quite big.
Oh good shout thanks!
Looking out my living room window and what do I see? Just two people climbing outta the back of a truck. 😂
🤣🤣🤣
How did you get to Myra Canyon trailhead from Penticton? Is there a group shuttle that can take you there?
That is the missing link. Hopefully he'll share how he got to their starting spot near Kelowna.
We parked in Penticton and rented bikes/got a shuttle from Hoodoo Adventures. They’ll drop ya off there (myra canyon) so you can bike back to Penticton 🤟
Alright thanks for responding!
Heck ya guys!!!! Great video!!!
Thanks!!🙏
Thanks for trimming bike paths in Surrey!
Doing the lords work 😂
Rattlesnakes that close to the Ocean?
They were not near the ocean.
We were actually in the interior of BC about 4 hours drive from the coast!
I rolled over snake directly on the other side of the lake, climbing the KVR to summerland. Good job Laura.
No way eh. I guess the snakes are super common. Freaky!
@@riseandalpine they like to soak in the sun . They mean no harm .
I gotta say, you two are a cute couple! Laura is definitely a trooper. Such beautiful scenery! Those mountains are spectacular!
Thanks! Mountains and trestles are so cool!
Laura is such a trooper
100%
Honestly man your posts sometimes do more than you think, I had to depart from the mountains for summer work and leave alot behind, it's comforting knowing and seeing its all still going to work out ❤🤙
Appreciate hearing that man. So glad my videos help ya keep your head up. Life’s always taking twists and turns so you just gotta enjoy every season.
I'm all for pow turn and ski shred videos but I looove a good bike adventure video! Always appreciate how much effort you put into these. That trail has been on my bucket list for a while now, looks like a great time and it gets me stoked for some more pedaling in the future myself! If you ever decide to hit up the bike park in whistler, I might know a guy...
You might know a guy eh 😂. Stoked you liked seeing me get up to a different kind of adventure. Hope you’re enjoying the start to the bike season!
Ugh, bike falls are just so $%#@# crappy. Hope she's ok. The rattlesnakes are much worse in the Osoyoos area, ugh, under every rock
She’s all good! Just scrapes and bruises. I never knew there were so many rattlesnakes out there…. Not going to be moving any rocks 😂
You done this ride a couple of years ago? That's great I will do it to. Stay in the OK the weather here in Vancouver is the s****** No summer. Can wait for the snow to come.......
Yup - loved it so much I wanted to show Laura. Believe it or not I was up in the mountains yesterday skiing a couloir with a little bit of fresh snow June 16th. That video should be out next week.
Laura scraped up, long ride, scary zombie tunnels RATTLESNAKES and the weirdest looking snow I've ever seen! Ohh, that's dirt? Is that the dryer darker from of snow perhaps? lol All jokes aside you guys are awesome. I think you two deserve some alone time and a nice quiet romantic dinner for two on me. ❤ God Bless!
Thanks Andy! Lauras going to be stoked about a surprise dinner. Maybe something a little more gourmet than PBJ and liquid courage 😂
@@riseandalpine hahaha! She deserves it for sure!
This is such a great ride! Done it many times.
Isn’t it awesome! This was my second time and loved it all the same. Glad I could finally get Laura out on it!
@@riseandalpine is it a loop? How do you get back to wherever you parked?
*Gravel Biking
Same guy who corrects peoples grammar 😂🤣
@@riseandalpine Mountain view Biking? lmao
Great ride and scenery. Kudos to intrepid Laura. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it. Laura is the best 😍
That's so cool guys. You guys gotta bike the Canmore trails! Or head over to Takkakaw Falls! Just an idea.
Heck yes to the Legacy Trail! ( I haven't biked to Takkakaw Falls, a.k.a. no diss there)
Great idea! We love hiking in Canmore. We did a great trail over a few glaciers near the Takkakaw falls a few years ago and loved it. The rockies are the best.
Y’all are so fast on these trails! Do you run a lot of the time?
We don’t run often just keep a pretty fast walking pace!
Holyyy, the pursuit of snow stops at nothing 👏🏻👏🏻
You know it!
After such a long ride, is there a public transport that brings people back to Kelowna?
I’m not sure about public transport, I got a shuttle from a company called hoodoo adventures
Tastes like fun!
😂🤣
Been nervous about my fam wanting to hit this hill. Thanks for this video.
No worries! Have fun up there.
@@riseandalpine you gave a reasonable video of the place. Everyone else posting are just sending it off cliffs… I was worried for real
Fantastic video! Well edited, great music, commentary. Opened my eyes to a new area! Thanks so much!
Thanks for watching - so glad you enjoyed it. Totally worth checking out powell river, it’s such a beautiful place
